My First Agility Trial
Yesterday, Mom and Dad took me to my first ever agility trial, wheee! It was outside, on a farm. I ran Jackpot and Jumpers.

Now, in Jackpot, I was a little leery. I mean, why were we running agility *here*? Why not in our backyard, or at the training place inside? Why were all these people watching me? And they had this recording thingy that kept saying "ready" to the dogs inside the ring. THAT was very interesting. I kept trying to find the person saying "ready," but I never did see them.

Mom started running so I zoomed out in front of her, as I'm not one to be left behind! She'd point at an obstacle, and if I felt like it, I'd do it. I tried to stay out in front of her, so she'd have to look at my corgi butt the whole time. She sent me onto the teeter, and it was WEIRD!! It was rubbery and metal, not at ALL like the nice wooden ones I've used before. I didn't really like it. Then a buzzer went off, and she sent me to a tunnel, which I happily zoomed into. She wanted me to do some more stuff, but I figured I'd done enough already, so the buzzer went off again and we left. She seemed pretty happy. I mean, I am awesome, after all.

The second run I had to wait HOURS for. I think I laid around for eight whole hours before I got to run again. This time I really wanted to stretch my legs, so when Mom sent me off, I bolted over the jump as fast as I could go. But then there were some really interesting smells at the next obstacle, so I had to stop and smell for a while. Mom was pointing and pleading so I did a few more things at top speed. At this point, I wondered where Daddy had gotten to. I saw him watching behind a fence, so I ran over to tell him about all the great things I was doing on the course. Mom kept nagging me in the background, though, so I trotted back over and we did some more stuff. Then there were three jumps in a row, really fast, so I did two of them and went off to tell Daddy again what an awesome agility dog I am. The one I skipped was right in front of the exit, and I wasn't ready to leave yet. I was still having a chat with Daddy about my greatness, when that stupid buzzer went off again. Mom came and told me we were done, and asked if I couldn't have at least done the very last jump?

Well, of course I could have. But I'm a firm believer in "always leave them wanting more."

Corgi Collision!
Funny Pembroke Welsh Corgi Agility GiftsI nearly got into a mess at agility class last night!

Mom was practicing me on the dog walk, while another doggie was working the weave poles. I guess that doggie didn't really WANT to do weaves, because she suddenly took off after me up the dog walk! YIPES!

Mom was right beside me, though, and she jumped over and threw her arms around me before the dog could knock me off. I was pretty confused when she did it, I thought this was no time for affection - I'm trying to do the freaking dog walk here, Mom!!

Then the dog's dad came running up to get HIS dog, and then the instructor came dashing over to make sure everybody was okay. I tell ya, I was one puzzled little corgi until Mom explained it all to me afterwards. She took me up the dog walk again to see if I was scared, but shoot, it's just a piddly dog walk, anybody can do it!

Agility Fun Yesterday!!
Mom was pretty sick the other day, so we didn't get to go to agility class. :( I was kind of depressed about it, but Mom needed snuggles and love so I had to oblige.

Yesterday, though, she took Popper and I up to a different agility place, and it was JUST US! First she shut me in that weird yellow crate, but after a while, I got to come out and play while Popper had to sit in there. HAHA!!

There were so many new smells and things going on that I kind of forgot that Mom was there and what she wanted me to do. After I'd scoped everything out four or five times, I decided nothing new was happening so I'd better start doing some agility.

Mom's not the greatest at telling me where to go, but boy oh boy did she get better real quick! The woman telling her what to do was super nice, she kept telling me how smart and good I am (like I don't know, but it's still nice to be appreciated). And she showed Mom how to do some stuff correctly - so now it makes perfect sense!

Adorable Me Corgi Gifts!
Kawaii Corgi GiftsMom's gotten a bit obsessed with this "kawaii" style of art. It's a Japanese cartoon, that literally means "cute." You've seen it before, on television and in stores, I'm sure.
Cute Pembroke Welsh Corgi T-Shirts
Well, Mom's decided that she just HAS to keep drawing these corgi kawaii cartoons. I think they're pretty good, myself. I mean, I am a *teensy* bit biased, but I think she's got some amount of talent. I don't think much of the one she drew with me in the bathtub, though.. The only good thing about bathtime is that at some point it's OVER!

Anyhow, enjoy the new stuff. And give your corgi a belly rub and a biscuit tonight!

Success on Weave Poles!
Cute Pembroke Welsh Corgi GiftsLast night I finally caved in and did the weave poles straight in class. No inch-offs, no skipping poles - I did all six because Mom was looking at me like I'd eaten her favorite sneakers and thrown them up on her pillow.

Hoooooeee, you should have heard the racket she made! All sorts of squeals and giggles, right into my poor ear. Then she started scratching my bum which was kinda nice, and promised me a cake. What? A CAKE! Well heck, from now on I'll hold out on her until she's good and depressed, and then suddenly do it right, if I'm gonna get a cake out of it!
