OSU Demo and Class
24 September, 2009, 05:45 am in "Dog Agility"
Yesterday, Mom took me to the Ohio State University for the vet school's annual "welcome back" event, which has an agility demo. Last year she took Popper, but she said she wanted to take ME since I'm just the awesomest outdoors.
Well, see, the ground was really wet and squishy, and there were all sorts of wormies and slugs and smells coming out of that ground. Frankly, those are way more impressive than Mom jumping around waving her hands around, even with the treats.
One of Mom's agility teachers asked if she wanted something called "Captain Crunch." We went over to her car and Mom received a MAGIC BAG OF NOMS. OMG. BEST NOMS EVER!! I stared as hard as I could at that bag - and Mom would laugh and give me one of its peanut buttery goodness.
We started another run, and I started my sniffing business, and Mom just touched her pocket slightly - so I stared at her, willing her to give me a nom. Once I'd trained her to give me one when I stared at her, I started following her around and we ran the agility course - complemented, of course, with plenty of those magic noms. I even gave her my secret weapon - 12 weave poles - and got a ton of those delicious, crunchy treats in return.
After we made a mad dash home to pick up Popper and go to agility class, Mom still had that magic bag of noms. I did my very best in class, perfecting everything I'd been a bit shaky on previously, like doing the weave poles after another obstacle. I also hate hate HATE the tire, but as I was getting ready to jump in the space between the tire and the frame, I changed my mind and went through the center, because I just KNEW Mom would give me a ton of noms. And she did!!
I guess everybody else thought I did really well too, because Mom said they promoted me to the next level of classes. She was so happy she took Popper and me out for ice cream cones. And they were awesome.
