Flyball is a fast paced dog sport that is run as a relay race. Each team has four dogs, usually of varying sizes. One at a time, they jump over four hurdles, hit a box that springs out a ball, and jump the four hurdles back. The instant the returning dog crosses the start line, the next canine crosses going the other way. A good flyball team can finish the relay in under twenty seconds. Pembroke Welsh Corgis are very good at flyball. Not only are they quick, they reliably bring back the ball each time, which in the end is more important than being the fastest. A dropped ball results in the dog having to be resent. Corgis are also used as "height dogs," which, being the shortest dog on the team, causes all the jumps to be lowered to this herding dog's height. That makes it a lot easier for the other dogs to go back and forth quickly.
